Ímar have become one of the most exciting and celebrated groups on the contemporary folk scene. Bringing together current and former members of Mànran, Mec Lir, RURA and Talisk, the award-winning quintet boasts an extraordinary collective tally of BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, alongside multiple All-Ireland and All-Britain titles.
Their critically acclaimed album Awakening (2023) continues to showcase the high-energy, genre-defying sound that has captivated audiences across the UK, Europe, North America and beyond. Renowned for their exceptional musicianship, infectious stage presence and the pure joy they bring to every performance, Ímar deliver a powerful live experience that leaves audiences enthralled.
Featuring Adam Brown (bodhrán), Adam Rhodes (bouzouki), Mohsen Amini (concertina), Ryan Murphy (uilleann pipes) and Tomás Callister (fiddle), the band draws on deep-rooted Irish, Scottish and Manx musical traditions. The result is a dynamic and distinctive sound that honours these shared Celtic heritages while pushing traditional music in exciting new directions.
A thrilling fusion of technical brilliance, passion and energy, Ímar are one of the trad music world’s must-see live acts.
